3rd Time's a Charm

Blargh, this is the third time I'm writing this post because blogger was being glitchy yesterday. I studied all day yesterday, and I finally feel semi-confident. Instead of the usual sweatpants and t-shirt that I wear to study I threw on these summery wedges to make myself feel better. I heard dressing up on test day gives you more confidence, does anyone else do that?

ALDO is having a sale! (and its awesome) I got these wedges above for $34 and a pair of peep-toe booties I'll wear in another post. It's official though my right foot is bigger than my left :/

I like the way slouchy draped shirts look on some people, and I see more and more of them in stores everyday, but I could never pull them off without looking like I'm drowning in them. I finally found one that I like, probably because the sleeves are more fitted and not so wide.

The black tights I'm wearing are from Target, and I really like that they're not see through.

The 3x3 die rubik's cube that I ordered the bf came in yesterday. Yeah it is weird...but he likes nerdy weird things like this. This is what it looked like when we first put it together... and I promptly messed it up within 5 minutes :( but its fixed now! Almost good as new :)

Baggage?

Louis Vuitton 'Trevi' PM

My excuses... no justifications for buying such an outrageous bag:excuses... no justifications for buying such an outrageous, ridiculously priced handbag:
1. Not having it is a distraction
2. I have the $$$ now
3. I will be in school for another 8 years, and will accrue thousands of dollars in debt so I will never be able to "afford" it
4. I will not buy another bag ever again (exaggeration...but I really mean a loooonngg time)
5. This is an investment, it can withstand a lot because of its craftsmanship and will probably last forever
6. I deserve it, well this is what my bf says, but it would be a nice gift to myself
7. I said I would feel guilty spending this much on something so material, but I am also spending about the same to go on a mission trip, so in my mind it somewhat balances out? (my logic may be faulty on this one, but it makes me feel better)
8. It is sturdy, has two straps to be worn different ways, perfect size, and I love it more than any other purse I've seen.
9. Prices of designer bags go up! not down, when it first came out it was $1450 now its $1660 ...which means I should get it now
10. I think it goes with everything, or at least I would wear it with everything...

My reasons for not buying it:

1. The money could be spent on so much more! For instance another vacation, a nicer camera to take pictures for my blog, a bike, a lesser priced, but still nice bag, or all of these combined!
2. I could always do the boring thing and put it in a savings that has a 1.35% interest rate -.-

So what do you guys think?? Lets have a poll shall we... I'm really on the fence and go from mood swings of definitely getting it to swearing off all bags.

Camera Phone

Last week I ate at Cheese Berry twice :X

Seafood Satay Pizza

Spicy Kimchi Bulgogi Pizza

This morning I woke up at 6:15 to take my lil sis to the DPS for her permit! There was a line up when we got there at 6:45AM...and it opens at 8AM. I extremely dislike (putting it lightly) the DPS. Already by 8 there is a lineup rounding the corner, and if I were coming into work with a line that long yeah maybe I would be cranky too. But I would still TRY and put on a happy face and maybe answer some questions -.- To be fair ONE person was friendly and somewhat helpful...

Anyway you learn a lot from listening to meaningless small talk in line. This woman above was saying she was here to replace her ID she had lost one night at the club... what club is she going to?? She must be late 40s-50s.

And this man below... I listened to him basically break up with his gf on the cell phone from the DPS! Because they were going in different directions. Apparently she was going to apply for either med school or nurse practitioner school... goodness I really hope that doesn't happen to me.

Conflicted

I can't wait to get my lifeeee back! I haven't had much to blog about since I'm inside all day studying :( but that doesn't mean I don't get distracted. If anything being stuck in the house all day makes me zone out. So when I try to study for hours at a time I end up doing this! (below)

I built this bike on urban outfitters, it has a cool link where you can build your own bike, even changing the colors of the tires! I've wanted a bike since I started undergrad, but since I drive to school everyday... it doesn't make much sense to spend so much on a bike I can't even fit in/on my car. One of these old school bikes is on my list of things to get for next year though.

Stress Sucks

Feeling like the weight of the world is on my shoulders. But I guess I'm just torturing myself. I wish I were more like this girl below.

A Girl Can Dream Right?

I put together a set of things I'm currently obsessed about, but will most likely not own any time soon. They're just too pretty, I had to put them together. :) Hopefully in Vegas I can find some similar more affordable options. But then again why compromise quality for quantity?

Equestrian

A few months ago when Houston was going through another rainy spell, I said I would buy rain-boots. When I finally did order these Equestrian rain-boots below... it stopped raining. So I put these away in my closet until I forgot about them, and since these hurricanes have been passing through they are looking a lot more handy. I bought them from Urban Outfitters and at the time they were $50, which I had to convince myself they would be an investment but now they are on sale. I liked them because they weren't the usual style, and they weren't the overly shiny rubber boots with the ridges at the bottom. Instead they look like they could be everyday boots, and have a funny slant at the top. They work well when it rains for part of the day and then stops because then you don't really have to change into different shoes. At first I wore them with shorts, but felt it didn't look right. Plus I planned to study so I threw on some comfy black tights.

After stepping outside to walk to my car... it stopped raining! After studying I went to get thai with the girlfrans, and catch up. Forgot to take a picture of my food but it was nothing special.

Too much skin.

Cravings

Yesterday after studying at the library, we headed to Miyakos for happy hour. After stuffing ourselves silly we decided to make room for desert...and OMG. WORTH it! Why have I never tasted fried oreos before?? We each ate two oreos with vanilla ice cream on tops -.-mmmm *closing my eyes in satisfaction. I forgot to take pictures of the other food cause we were so hungry....

Then while talking to our friend that works there, I noticed this baby (below) on her wrist! Who doesn't know what this is? This version below is off of amazon and is $75 ... there is a much cheaper version somewhere at Hot Topic, that only has the Jacob charm. Anyway must find next time I go to the mall....which might not be for awhile :(

Tis the Season

It is the season for interviews! After worrying all morning and not getting much done I received an email from Texas Tech for an interview. The date was set for the 6th and the 13th...but I would be out of the state for both! Luckily I was able to reschedule for the 20th of Aug. It would give me more time to prepare and book tickets...unless anyone wants to come with me on a 9 hour drive to Lubbock!

In other exciting news...it's here! my much needed shoe rack. I talked my little sister into helping me assemble it.. but we finished in 5 minutes haha.

Ta Da! This is in the small size, it expands to 48" crazy.

So I contemplated putting the shoe rack in my closet, but it has two annoying sliding mirrors and I wouldn't be able to see all of my shoes at once. I ended up putting it at the foot of my bed, not fully extended because then it would look weird. But I easily managed to fit 11 pairs on it. My mom is not going to be happy when she realizes how many shoes I really have, but I prefer having them out where I can see them. Sometimes I forget I have them!

Moved the hamper to the closet to hide... These are the two sides of my closet, I don't hang much cause I like to fold (or throw) my clothes in a drawer.

Sigh

Finally new room pictures! If everyone remembers this was what my old room looked like... at it's worst (below). I don't know what it was intended to be when the house was built but it was tiny and I have a lot of stuff.

This is the new room!

David helped me take everything apart, and literally moved every piece of furniture around. I had dust allergies for days afterward but it feels good to have room to WALK around in. I have made a few changes since and will post up pictures of the closet soon. I ordered a shoe rack that will be coming in 5-7 days...yay!

So I looked into possible mission trips I could go on this year or next year and I found a great one to Vietnam, where I would be volunteering at an orphanage teaching english and possibly learning Vietnamese from the kiddos :). The cost comes out to be around 1300, which isn't too bad. Hopefully things will work out, my parents would probably not believe it if they heard it.

I also hope to do study abroad next summer, and travel as much as I can before med school. Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Paris, and London!!! So excited.

Last night and continuing into this morning (5 AM to be exact) I was immersed in this book, "The Twentieth Wife". I picked it up at Boarders yesterday so that I could read it on the plane to Vegas. However I took a break from studying, intending to only read the first chapter and I couldn't put it down! The best book I have read in a loonnnnng time. I am excited to read the second book, "The Feast of Roses", which follows the heroine, Mehrunnisa. It is interesting because it is based on certain historical facts and the love affair of a Prince and commoner.

Back To Reality

I've been back in Houston for a little more than a week now and I feel so unproductive! I wake up around 9 AM now and get horribly distracted while trying attempting to study. Home is not conducive to hardcore studying :( Anyway soon after I came home I moved into a new and bigger room! since my sister moved out into this palace below. It makes me want to move out too, but I can enjoy home life for a year before med school.

I visited my sister's new home with my cousins and played with this furry little beast :) Then we made a trip to IKEA which is right across the street! I didn't pick up anything for my new room, but $0.50 hot dogs! and icee yumm. I just ordered a shoe rack online and I'll post pictures of the new room (and closet!) later.

Swedish meatballs...

Went to watch Eclipse with some girlfriends. Loved the movie!!! It was the best one yet, the acting has sure improved, but there were still awkward moments..

Poker night with the bf, this was before I came and he was racking it in...and then I came and killed his good luck :(

Back to hitting the books and hitting up the tapioca houses.

Sushi to catch up with some friends. YES since I've been back I've ate Sushi, Hot Pot, and soup dumplings hehe cravings satisfied.

So Friday me and the bf went to watch Despicable Me in 3D, such a cute movie. haha We were standing in line with a bunch of little kids, but it was worth it!

This is what we wore today to a BBQ.

Recap

So I am back in Houston! Just a random post of some things that I did in Dallas before leaving...

This was some of the best food I had all summer. The restaurant is called The Asian Mint, and its well known for the Green Tea Ice Cream Cake. *droooools The place is really cute and unique and they serve Vietnamese, Thai, and Japanese (sushi) food. I went with my good friend Andrea for the last time before I left :(

This is me below waiting for the doctor on the week of nephrology rounds.

This is the dress I wore to the end of program banquet.

Roomie pose! We were all dressed up to go to the karaoke bar on the very last night of JAMP.

One of the most bad ass karaoke places I've seen. A TV on every wall, and seats for 30 people! oh and tambourines haha

A final huddle before everyone parted ways :(
