Saved By The Bell

This week has been full of social events after each day of orientation. I have to say.. being social is hard work.. haha it also involves more drinking than I expected. Every event seems to revolve around bars, but I have been good :) Today we had a roller rink social where the attire was 80s style... which I was stoked about! I ran to target and bought a headband and some spiffy socks and I was set!

Channeling some kelly kapowski here. This is a corner of my room that I haven't really posted yet, but will be taking lots of pictures here haha

Long lost 80s work out buddy.. So trying to dance on roller skates is a talent in it's own. I can't say I have mastered it yet.

The location was kind of shady, but then again most roller rinks seem that way. I couldn't help but think of napoleon dynamite the whole time. They even turned out the lights at 9 and it was all blacklight.

We were both rocking the sideways ponytail. woot woot...
Afterwards drinking at the Vegas bar ensued, and we turned the bar into our own dance floor. We showed up in full 80s gear, at least 30 strong and people were looking at us like.. wtf... haha I think I heard the nerd reference as well... but we know in our hearts that we're totally awesome!

Fun Stuff

I was finally able to get ahold of my schedule and sync it up with my iCal and it is AWESOME!....
Let the games begin :)

More food posts to come. I was too lazy to take a picture of my first day outfit, but maybe I'll throw it on later and take pics. I got home today at 3 PM, thankfully and took a nice little nap. I am about to head off for yoga soon.

Bakery

So I just finished a 90 minute bikram yoga class and what do I think about immediately after? FOOD! This is a big desert post. I never uploaded the pictures from my attempt at making macarons. So enjoy!

All the ingredients to make these delicious french cookies, minus the kitchenaid mixer, food processor, baking pan, and piping bag I borrowed from my cousin :) I was making raspberry macarons, but I didn't buy the food coloring so they just look like bloody hamburgers according to tram.

Piping is not so easy..

Ohmygahhhhh they're rising!!! The excitement.. for the 8-10 minutes they're baking I check almost every minute just to make sure they didn't break or bake flat like they many times do. My 2nd batch was actually the best, my 3rd the worst, and my 4th the prettiest.

mmm bloody hamburgerss

They were sooo yummmy, but almost 90% sugar haha

Then the other day we decided to make tres leches... It is actually quite simple if you skimp on a few steps like using white cake mix from a box and buying ready made whip cream.. but we decided to make our cake from scratch. So you bake the cake and pierce holes evenly throughout.

Then you pour a mixture of whole milk, condensed milk, evaporated milk, honey, and cinnamon into the hole and along the side of the cake.

Make sure to get it in the holes!! :P

Let it sit in the fridge for a bit, then spread whip cream and sprinkle cinnamon on the cake..

And TADA, it really is as moist as it looks haha. Even though it's 10:30... I'm extremely tired and will most likely conk out soon. Goodnight!

New Home

Finally got internetz! After the guy came I ran to bestbuy to get a router and my we set it up all by ourselves :) So things are still getting settled, I have tons of pictures I want everyone to see but so far this is my bed, which I loveee.

This is the moving crew below, thanks for ALL your help guys! I couldn't have carried/setup/clean/drive the UHAUL without you! The picture is really blurry, but it's the only one I have of everyone :/ It was taken Sat night when we all went to Austin to party it up and see the bats.

Today I got my school ID and parking tag. I look like I fit right in, in San Antonio already with my dark tan.. More updates later tonight once I get home. I'm doing some Bikram Yoga with my roomie and other classmate.

Oodles
