Medieval Rangers

Ok, a quick post because I have three tests next week and I have to finish all my med school applications by next wednesday -.- Thursday night we all headed out to the baseball park in arlington to watch the Rangers win their 11th game in a row against the Pittsburgh Pirates!!! whooowooowoo!! We all sat in the closed porch in the unlimited food seats. 4 hot dogs, 3 drinks, nachos, popcorn, and tons of peanuts later I was in a food coma...Unlimited and food do not go together :( I need to work out. I'm in the blue dress below.

Then today a group of us went to Medieval Times, right next to the hotel. It is the only one in Texas so I had to go for the experience.

Me' Lady

WHoOoOOo we were rooting for the Yellow Knight (on the horse), he was our Legolas! It really was an experience, some people went all out and dressed up and there were about 15 kids celebrating their birthday there! Now it is time to study... 6 more days :D

Lifechanging?

As much as I've been missing home I will be sad to leave. This month has felt like a dream. Once I go home will I still be as productive, adventurous, social? Unlike last summer I am out of my element here, away from friends, family, and significant other. I have found that Dallas is a wonderful place to live. It makes me question my future... I always felt that DOs were looked down upon, but I feel drawn to TCOM more everyday because of the location.

Today I found some free time after lunch to play a little ping pong and a little foosball :) Gotta find something to de-stress. I've noticed that I wear this white, silver-striped cardigan a lot. Totally worth it, cardigans are so versatile especially when its 100 degrees outside and 60 inside -.-

Finally found time to visit Katy Trails.

It is a beautiful park where people bring dogs, rollerblade, bike, and run. I ran/jog/walked about 2 miles? I couldn't really tell. I hope to run a half-marathon by the end of this year... hopefully I will start training outdoors this time instead of only on the treadmill. There were placemarkers all over the trails and signs of encouragement haha. I feel like I'm at mile 0 in life... I guess I'm just training for the marathon (medical school). I can't believe I will find out in January where I will spend the next 4 years of my life.

(Smile)

Came home, drank a Blue Hawaiian (jk its powerade) and I am about to finish these apps!

Shenanigans

Yay I survived another day. I haven't posted in awhile because I've just been studying and working on applications and being sleep deprived :(. Some random pictures below of a late night run to sonics for some snickers ice cream... minus the whip cream.

a

Today was a sad day... I could have gotten an extra hour of sleep because my attending didn't show up until 9AM -.- instead I got there at 0800 sharp and sat in this depressing room below for an hour. I decided not to nap and be productive so I started on the slideshow for the end of program banquet. Why does keynote suck so MUCH! I wish I had the good old Powerpoint 2007 on my laptop...

Good morning!
I saw some crazy, sick, nasty stuff in the ER today, but I learned so much. Some people will do anything for drugs... :/ sad...

Wicked

Me and some girls in the program with me. We were getting ready to see the musical Wicked. It is an AMAZING show. I didn't expect the singing to be so beautiful. It was also littered with humor throughout but the story was still easily understood. I would watch it again haha I'm listening to the soundtrack right now and I think the singing was better with the cast that we saw perform.

Fair Park was where we went to see Wicked. It's a really beautiful area and I was told that is where they have the state fair.

After the 3 hour musical I was starving, because I woke up late for breakfast and then skipped lunch. We headed over to Spaghetti Warehouse which I've never tried since I heard some bad reviews. But the one we went to was delicious! I ordered the Steak and Spaghetti, mmmm

One thing I like about Dallas is the number of outdoor activities available. There is kayaking at White Rock Lake, cycling around parks, various running trails (I will be checking out Katy Trails next week), and there are segway tours!!!!

Schwasted

My week in a nutshell. After our two exams on Thursday a bunch of us went out to a Mexican restaurant called Pepe's for 2.50 margaritasss! I learned that I don't really like margaritas... in fact since my birthday I don't like any alcohol! This is what I ate below.

I finally made it to the game room at the student center for a game of pool!

So this was Friday night below. We finished up classes and I had a bit of time to hit the gym. I ran 2 miles which felt SOOO good. I must have gained 5 pounds since I came to Dallas -.- not cool. After working out I ate dinner :X haha and a group of us decided to go out.

We are a serious bunch :P (above)

11:30 PM bar hopping around the uptown area. I forgot the names of the bars we went to, but I guess that was the point... massive long island ice tea pictured below = EVIL. I don't even remember much, or how I made it to bed... not from all the drinking but I was so tired from the school all day and then going out. My endurance AND alcohol tolerance has gone down the drain.

This is a better picture of my outfit. It's a denim romper with the wedges from a few post back. I've wanted a romper for awhile, but all the ones I tried on were loose and bunchy around my stomach. The only ones that work on me are the strapless fitted ones. I would also wear this with a thick belt, or even a thin belt would look fine, but I didn't bring any on my trip. There are pleats in the front and it makes me look like I have a smaller waist than I really do. It needs a good ironing though. Overall this is a really simple outfit, the only thing that sucks with rompers is the bathroom issue.... :)

Outfit

This was what I threw on today, since I got a full 7 hours of sleep o.O omg. I was still feeling tired though and I like to dress up a bit when I feel sick or blah cause it makes me feel like less of a bum. Tonight I may be getting only a few hours though, cause I have an embryo exam and biochem exam back to back. I would attempt an all-nighter but I don't want to fall asleep during my neurology rotation tomorrow...

I love my bag more and more everyday. I found that most messenger bags hurt my shoulder but maybe its the thick comfy straps on this one that make it not so miserable to tote around. I don't know if I'm making sense cause I'm too tired to edit this post.

This is my countdown to H-town... :)

Slackin'

Lately I feel like I've lost the motivation to blog. I think it is cause I have two test this Thursday. Quick post of the weekend events. I also went to the Fort Worth Zoo on Saturday but that deserves a post of its own.

On Friday my two favorite-test people came to visit me (David and Anh). When they arrived at 9:30 ish that night we all headed out to grub. Originally we were gonna eat at Royal Thai but ended up at Genghis Grill. It is a very unique eating experience and I wish they had more of these in Houston.

So basically you get to pile on as many things in the bowl as possible and they cook whatever you give them.

haha my combo is the bottom right, that is completely veggie less, except for the tofu I guess...

Ta da! My creation :)

So that night we drove back and forth in front of Children's hospital which is Gorgeous at night. I have many blurry pictures but this is the only decent one. I will get to shadow my doctor at this hospital one of these days in the pediatric ER.

Did some late night studying..after dropping off Anh and getting lost.

So not a very good picture, but this is what I wore to go Salsa dancing Saturday night. The dress was very wrinkly but I wore it just because it seemed like a good salsa dress. The side is actually a zipper and the slit can be adjusted for whatever sexiness level you want I guess haha.

On sunday me David and Anh hung out at the mall for a bit before they drove back to Houston. We went to this store called Puzzle Zoo... THE best toy store everrrrr. At first we were just joking but once we went in... we didn't want to leave. They had so many puzzles and rubric's cubes. There is something for everyone! haha

The cutest cart...we had to..

Tater tot version of Anh, see the resemblance?

I have a major headache right now. We had mock interviews today and those always make me feel like puking. Overall I guess it went okay, but I never know how my face looks. Honestly sometimes I don't realize what my face looks like. What if I'm making weird ugly faces. ughh I should probably video tape myself, but I'll worry about preparing for interviews in July!

Connected

So, it has been 3 days! The longest I have gone without blogging but technically it wasn't my fault, the internet at the hotel has not been working for the past 2 days o.O But I was also really busy and I just finished uploading about 200 pictures ... I will slowly start updating everyone on my adventures but for now these pictures will have to do. I finally got to open the long awaited package that I have been blogging about incessantly. The bf brought it when he came to visit me on Friday, after holding it hostage for 2 weeks!

I get a kick out of opening packages.

Fragile thing.

whooo it's a party on the inside.

In action.

So anyway I've been toting this around everywhere since I got it. I have also been using it as a book bag. The leather is pretty soft and I really like the color, although I guess I can understand why some think it is orange...the tag officially says TAN. Already one compliment from some random cashier, totally worth it, I predict major usage and you will be seeing it in many posts to come.

I have embryology and biochem exams this week so I have to get going. I was in the cleaning mode earlier and finally got to do laundry this weekend. Wow I will never take washers and dryers for granted again! The hotel only has 1 washer and 1 dryer for all the guests! AND it costs $1 each load for each machineeee, I guess I'm just not used to having to pay to clean clothes... lesson learned :)

Kitty Heels

Hi everyone, I am ecstatic it is almost FRIDAYYYYYY! almost 2 weeks down. So today I shadowed a family medicine physician and performed my first breast exam on a real patient.. :D I always touch the patient like they're going to break at any minute, but it was a good experience to practice. Then we watched a pap smear, and all that good stuff. I used to think I could never be an OB/GYN but I really think it is amazing. Of course I have yet to see a live birth soo...It's quite different when a head is coming out, instead of just locating the uterus or peering into the cervix.

What I wore today. My favorite part is the back of this skirt, with the ruffles. The lighting is so horrible :/ but I do look evenly tanned right? haha

Oh and I got these awesome shoes, they're like 1 inch heels...which I've never worn before, but they're lifesavers. They're easy to walk around and I like the color a lot. All my dress shoes are black so this is a good neutral color to add into the mix. PLUS it was like $13 how awesome right??

I was perusing the online mall and I came across these cute things below. I really love wedges right now, and I only find a few that are appealing. I'm not going to purchase them because I think I have reached my quota for shoe purchases this month, but I don't know which color looks better. Any opinions? I am really drawn to things with laser cut-outs, note the white flats in the last post and my white sandals I wear all the time.

I am also amazed at how much shampoo and conditioner and lotion and soap I have amassed since arriving (all for the Ronald McDonald House of course). I am almost positive that housekeeping has noticed and found my stash as well! uh oh. haha
